Borrowed from Classical Persian حکومت (hukūmat), from Arabic حُكُومَة (ḥukūma). Compare Gujarati હકૂમત (hakūmat), Hindi हुकूमत (hukūmat), Punjabi ਹਕੂਮਤ (hakūmat) / حکومَت (ḥkomat).
