Etymology
[edit]From स- (sa-, “with”) + अवधान (avadhāna, “attention”). The latter word itself faced semantic expansion, originally meaning "placing down or away", and is composed of अव- (ava-, “away, down”) + धा (dhā, “to put, place”, root) + -अन (-ana).
