[edit]Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀲𑀧𑁆𑀧𑀳𑀭𑀓 (*sappaharaka, “snake-catcher”), from Sanskrit सर्प-हरक (sarpa-haraka).[1] By surface analysis, साँप (sā̃p) + -एरा (-erā).
