[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀲𑀟𑀺 (*saḍi) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓𑁆𑀓- (-kka-), from Sanskrit सृति (sṛti, “road, path”). Cognate with Bengali সড়ক (śoṛok), Gujarati સડક (saḍak), Marathi सडक (saḍak), and Odia ସଡ଼କ (saṛaka).
