Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀚𑁆𑀚𑁂𑀇 (sajjei) (compare Old Marathi 𑘭𑘕𑘜𑘹 (sajaṇe), 𑘭𑘕𑘿𑘕𑘜𑘹 (sajjaṇe), 𑘭𑘰𑘕𑘜𑘹 (sājaṇe)), from Sanskrit सज्जयति (sajjayati). Compare Gujarati સજાવવું (sajāvvũ), Hindustani سَجَانَا (sajānā) / सजाना (sajānā), Sindhi سَجَائِڻُ / सजाइणु, Punjabi ਸਜਾਉਣਾ (sajāuṇā) / سَجاؤݨا (sajā'oṇā).
