Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘭𑘲𑘕𑘜𑘹 (sījaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀺𑀚𑁆𑀛𑀇 (sijjhaï), from Sanskrit सिध्यति (sídhyati). Compare Hindi सीझना (sījhnā), Sindhi سِجهَڻُ / सिझणु, Punjabi ਸਿੱਝਣਾ (sijjhaṇā) / سِجّھݨا (sijjhṇā), Maithili सिझब (sijhab) / 𑒮𑒱𑒗𑒥 (sijhaba), Odia ସିଝିବା (sijhibā), Assamese সিজা (xiza), Sinhalese ඉදෙනවා (idenawā).
