[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘪𑘹𑘜𑘲 (veṇī), 𑘪𑘲𑘜𑘲 (vīṇī), from Sanskrit वेणि (veṇi), वेणिका (veṇikā). Cognate with Konkani विणी (viṇī), Gujarati વેણી (veṇī), Bengali বেণি (beni), Nepali बेनि (beni).
