[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘪𑘰𑘨𑘜𑘹 (vāraṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀯𑀸𑀭𑁂𑀇 (vārei), Sanskrit वारयते (vārayate) / वारयति (vārayati). Cognate with Gujarati વારવું (vārvũ), Hindustani بَارْنَا (bārnā) / बारना, Sindhi وارَڻُ / वारणु, Punjabi ਵਾਰਨਾ (vārnā) / وارنا (vārnā), Nepali बार्नु (bārnu), Odia ବାରିବା (bāribā), Sinhalese වරනවා (waranawā).
