Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi वाढणे (vāḍhaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀯𑀟𑁆𑀠𑀇 (vaḍḍhaï), from Sanskrit वर्धते (vardhate, “to grow, increase”). Cognate to Hindi बढ़ना (baṛhnā), Gujarati વધવું (vadhvũ), Bengali বাড়া (baṛa).
