[edit]Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀮𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀝𑀇 (luṭṭaï), from Sanskrit *लुट्टति (luṭṭati), an alternation of an earlier लुण्टति (luṇṭati), from लुण्ट् (luṇṭ). Compare Hindi लूटना (lūṭnā), Sindhi لُٽَڻُ / लुटणु (luṭaṇu). Related to लूट (lūṭ), लुटारू (luṭārū).
