Derived from Prakrit *𑀮𑀻𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀸 f (*līkkā, track, line), whence Punjabi ਲੀਕ (līk, line) and Gujarati લીક (līk). Of unclear relation to लेखा (lekhā), रेखा (rekhā), and लकीर (lakīr).
