Inherited from Prakrit *𑀮𑀝𑁆𑀝 (*laṭṭa), possibly related to Sanskrit लट्वा (laṭvā), लता (latā). Cognate with Punjabi ਲਟ (laṭ), Gujarati લટ (laṭ), Nepali लट्टो (laṭṭo), Marathi 𑘩𑘘 (laṭ).
