Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Aryan *rabʰ-, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *rabʰ-, from Proto-Indo-European *lebʰ- (“to profit, gain”). Compare perhaps Lithuanian lõbis (“treasure, wealth”), Ancient Greek λᾰ́φῡρᾰ (láphūra, “war spoils, booty”).
