Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *HragʰwíH (“light, fleet, rapid, fast”), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ln̥gʷʰ-wih₂, feminine of *h₁léngʰus (“light”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬭𐬆𐬎𐬎𐬍 f (rəuuī). Also compare Georgian არაგვი (aragvi, name of a river), a borrowing from Iranian *(A)ragwī.
