Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Aryan *mázdʰHras (influenced by *mazdʰáH), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *manzdʰHrás, from Proto-Indo-European *mens-dʰh₁-ró-s from *ménos (“mind”) + *dʰeh₁- (“to put”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬨𐬄𐬰𐬛𐬭𐬀 (mązdra), Proto-Germanic *mundraz, Proto-Slavic *mǫdrъ.[1][2]
