Etymology
[edit]Derived from Proto-Indo-Iranian *mr̥ȷ́ʰúš (“brief, short”), from Proto-Indo-European *mr̥ǵʰ-ú-s (“short, brief”). Related to Ancient Greek βραχύς (brakhús), Latin brevis (“short”) and also to मुहुर् (múhur, “in a moment; suddenly”).
