Etymology
[edit]Possibly from Sanskrit *मांसपुटक (māṃsapuṭaka), from मांस (māṃsa) + पुट (puṭa) + -क (-ka).[1]
Another possibility is Sanskrit श्मश्रु (śmaśru, “beard”).[2]
