Etymology

Borrowed from Classical Persian مصالح (maṣālih, “materials; spices”), plural of Arabic مَصْلَحَة (maṣlaḥa), from the root ص ل ح (ṣ l ḥ). Related to सलाह (salāh, “advice”). Compare Assamese মচলা (mosola), Bengali মশলা (mosla), Santali ᱢᱚᱥᱞᱟ (môsla).
