Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘥𑘳𑘃 (bhuī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀪𑀽𑀫𑀺 (bhūmi), from Sanskrit भूमि (bhū́mi). Doublet of भूमी (bhūmī).
