Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘹𑘨𑘜𑘹 (peraṇe) (compare Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀺𑀭𑀫𑀸𑀡 (pakkiramāṇa) with Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓𑁆𑀓- (-kka-)), from Sanskrit प्रकिरति (prakirati).
