[edit]From Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀽𑀭𑁂𑀇 (pūrei), from Sanskrit पूरयति (pūráyati, “to fill”), from the root पॄ (pṝ). Cognate with Marathi पुरणे (purṇe).
