[edit]Semi-learned borrowing from Sanskrit पूर्त (pūrta). First attested as Old Marathi 𑘢𑘳𑘨𑘝 (purata). Compare Gujarati પૂરતું (pūrtũ), Kannada ಪೂರ್ತಾ (pūrtā), Hindustani پُرْتَا (purtā) / पुरता (purtā), Malvi पुरतो (purto).
