[edit]From Proto-Indo-Aryan *párśaHnas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *párćaHnas, from Proto-Indo-European *pr̥ḱeh₂. Cognate with Latin porca (“lynchet”), Lithuanian prapar̃šas (“ditch”), Welsh rhych (“furrow”), Old English furh (whence English furrow).
