[edit]From Prakrit *𑀧𑀧𑁆𑀧𑀡 (*pappaṇa) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-), from a variant of Sanskrit पक्ष्मन् (pakṣman, “eyelash”).[1] Doublet of पंखुड़ी (paṅkhuṛī) and पक्ष्म (pakṣma).
