[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘡𑘹𑘜𑘹 (neṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀡𑁂𑀇 (ṇei), from Sanskrit नयति (náyati), from Proto-Indo-European *neyH-. Cognate with Sindhi نِهَڻُ / निहणु (nihaṇu), Odia ନେବା (nebā), Bengali নেওয়া (neōẇa), Assamese নিয়া (nia).
