[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘡𑘰𑘨𑘿𑘧𑘯 (nāryaḷa), 𑘡𑘰𑘨𑘿𑘧𑘹𑘯 (nāryeḷa), 𑘡𑘰𑘨𑘱𑘧𑘩 (nāriyala), 𑘡𑘰𑘨𑘱𑘧𑘯 (nāriyaḷa), 𑘡𑘰𑘨𑘱𑘧𑘹𑘯 (nāriyeḷa), 𑘡𑘰𑘨𑘲𑘊𑘩 (nārīela), 𑘡𑘰𑘨𑘲𑘊𑘯 (nārīeḷa), from Sanskrit नारिकेल (nārikela), from Proto-Dravidian [Term?]. Cognate with Gujarati નારિયળ (nāriyaḷ), Hindi नारियल (nāriyal), Punjabi ਨਾਰੀਅਲ (nārīala).
