[edit]From धाड (dhāḍ), from Old Marathi धाड (dhāḍa), धाडा (dhāḍā), धाडी (dhāḍī),[1] from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀥𑀸𑀟𑀻 (dhāḍī), from Sanskrit धाटी (dhāṭī, “assault”).[2]
