[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘟𑘰𑘘𑘜𑘹 (dāṭaṇe) (compare Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀁𑀤𑀝𑁆𑀝 (saṃdaṭṭa), 𑀲𑀁𑀤𑀝𑁆𑀝𑀬 (saṃdaṭṭaya)). Related to दाट (dāṭ), दडणे (daḍṇe), दडा (daḍā), दडपणे (daḍapṇe).
