Etymology
[edit]From तेल (tel, “oil”) + चाटना (cāṭnā, “to lick, eat up”) + -आ (-ā), named so for its attraction to foodstuffs such as oil. Influenced by Sanskrit तैलपायिका (tailapāyikā). Cognate with Bengali তেলাপোকা (telapōka)
