[edit]Inherited from Prakrit *𑀝𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*ṭukka, “piece”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), from *𑀝𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓𑁆 (*ṭukk, “to cut, break”). Cognate with Assamese টুকুৰা (tukura), Bengali টুকরা (ṭukra).
