Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘕𑘳𑘽𑘪𑘰𑘨 (juṃvāra) (compare 𑘕𑘳𑘁𑘨𑘲 (juārī), 𑘕𑘳𑘽𑘁𑘨𑘲 (juṃārī), 𑘕𑘳𑘪𑘰𑘨𑘲 (juvārī), 𑘕𑘳𑘽𑘪𑘰𑘨𑘲 (juṃvārī)), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀚𑀼𑀆𑀭 (juāra) (compare 𑀚𑀼𑀆𑀭𑀺 (juāri)), from Sanskrit द्यूतकार (dyūtakāra), द्यूतकर (dyūtakara).
