[edit]Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀔𑀼𑀧𑁆𑀧𑀇 (khuppaï) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀲- (-sa-).[1] Related to खुपणे (khupṇe, “to be pricked”) without the -𑀲- (-sa-) extension.
