[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀔𑀟𑁆𑀟𑀸 (khaḍḍā, “hole”), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀔𑀟𑁆𑀠 (*khaḍḍha). Doublet of खड्डा (khaḍḍā) and गड्ढा (gaḍḍhā).
