Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀟𑀼𑀁𑀩 (kuḍuṃba)[1] + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-),[2] from Sanskrit कुटुम्ब (kuṭumba). Doublet of कुटुंब (kuṭumb).
