Borrowed from Classical Persian کمر (kamar), from Middle Persian [script needed] (kml /⁠kamar⁠/, waist, belt, girdle). Compare Gujarati કમર (kamar), Hindi कमर (kamar), Punjabi ਕਮਰ (kamar), Bengali কোমর (kōmor).
