[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘭 (usa), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀼 (ucchu), from Sanskrit इक्षु (ikṣú). Cognate with Konkani ऊंस (ū̃s), Hindi ईख (īkh), ऊख (ūkh), Nepali उखु (ukhu), Bengali আখ (akh).
