[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘕𑘲𑘪𑘰 (ujīvā), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀼 (ujju) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit ऋजु (ṛjú, “straight, right”).
