[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘕𑘯𑘜𑘹 (ujaḷaṇe), from Prakrit 𑀉𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀮𑀇 / उज्जलइ / ಉಜ್ಜಲಇ (ujjalaï), from Sanskrit उज्ज्वलति (ujjvalati). Related to उजळ (ujaḷ), उजळणी (ujaḷṇī). Compare Gujarati ઉજાળવું (ujāḷvũ), અજવાળવું (ajavāḷvũ), Hindustani اُجَالْنَا (ujālnā) / उजालना (ujālnā), Sindhi اُجرَڻُ / उजिरणु, اُجارَڻُ / उजारणु, Vaghri ઊજારણુ (ūjārṇu), Odia ଉଜଳିବା (ujaḷibā), ଉଜାଳିବା (ujāḷibā).
