[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘓𑘿𑘓𑘨𑘜𑘹 (uccaraṇe), 𑘄𑘓𑘿𑘓𑘰𑘨𑘜𑘹 (uccāraṇe), adapted from Sanskrit उच्चारयति (uccārayati), उच्चारण (uccāraṇa) (compare Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀘𑁆𑀘𑀸𑀭𑁂𑀇 (uccārei)).[1][2][3] Compare Gujarati ઉચારવું (ucārvũ), ઉચ્ચરવું (uccarvũ), ઉચ્ચારવું (uccārvũ), ઓચરવું (ocarvũ), Hindustani اُچارْنَا (ucārnā) / उचारना (ucārnā), उच्चारना (uccārnā), Sindhi اُچارَڻُ / उचारणु, Punjabi ਉਚਰਨਾ (ucarnā) / اُچَرنا (ucarnā), Maithili उचारब (ucārab) / 𑒅𑒔𑒰𑒩𑒥 (ucāraba, “to predict”). From उच्चार (uccār, “pronunciation”) + -णे (-ṇe).
