[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘎𑘨𑘚𑘰 m (ukaraḍā), 𑘄𑘎𑘨𑘚𑘹𑘽 n (ukaraḍeṃ), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀓𑁆𑀓𑁂𑀭 (ukkera), 𑀉𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀭𑀟 (ukkaraḍa) (with Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-)) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit उत्कर (utkara), उत्कार (utkāra), उत्किर (utkira). Compare उकरणे (ukarṇe), Gujarati ઉકરડો (ukarḍo), Odia ଉକର (ukara, “abuse with reference to a person's family scandals”).
