Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘁𑘙𑘻𑘯𑘲 (āṭhoḷī), from Prakrit 𑀅𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺 (aṭṭhi) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀮- (-la-) + -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-) (compare Prakrit 𑀅𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀅 (aṭṭhillaa)), from Sanskrit अष्टि (aṣṭi).
