[edit]A Sanskritic compound of अशोकीय (aśokīya, “relating to, or belonging to Aśoka”, adjective) + प्राकृत (prākŕt, “Prakrit”).

- म॰ भा॰ आ॰ के प्रथम युग के अंतर्गत ही शिलालेखी प्राकृत या अशोक के शिलालेखों की प्राकृत भी आती हैं। इसे कुछ लोग अशोकीय प्राकृत या अशोकन प्राकृत भी कहते हैं।
- ma. bhā. ā. ke pratham yug ke antargat hī śilālekhī prākŕt yā aśok ke śilālekhõ kī prākŕt bhī ātī ha͠i. ise kuch log aśokīya prākŕt yā aśokan prākŕt bhī kahte ha͠i.
- Within the first stage of MIA, also present, is the Śilālekhī [lit. of the rock inscriptions] Prakrit or the Prakrit of Aśoka's rock inscriptions. Some also call this Aśokan Prakrit or Aśokīya Prakrit.
