Borrowed from Classical Persian عَقل ('aql), from Arabic عَقْل (ʕaql). Compare Old Punjabi ਅਕਲਿ (akali).

      कहां थे तुम्ह क्यनं कीये,
      अकलि है सब नेस
      kahā̃ the tumha kyanã kīye,
      akali hai saba nesa
      Where are you [pl.] from, by whom created?
