Inherited from Sanskrit प्रस्थान (prasthāna, setting out, departure; walking, journey; source, cause). Cognate to Sinhalese පටන් (paṭan, to begin from, since). Doublet of ފަށަނީ (faṣanī) and ފަށައިގެން (faṣaigen̊)
