Inherited from Sanskrit भार (bhāra, a burden, load, weight, heavy work, labour). Cognate to Sinhalese බර (bara, heavy, weighty, cumbersome, important). Doublet of ބަރަ (bara), ބަރާ (barā), and ބަރު (baru)
