[edit]From Aramaic תְשַעְסַר (tšaʿsar). Equivalent to ܬܸܫܥܵܐ (tišʿā, “nine”) + ܥܸܣܪܵܐ (ʿisrā, “ten”); compare Arabic تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ (tisʕata ʕašara) and Hebrew תִּשְׁעָה עָשָׂר (tish'á 'asár)
