Etymology
[edit]From Aramaic תַּיְמְנָא (taymənā), a derivative of יַמִּינָא (yammīnā, “right side”), south being the direction to one's right side when facing the sunrise; cognate to Hebrew תֵּימָן (teimán, “Yemen”).
