[edit]From ܫܪܝܪܐ (šarrīrāʾ, “firm”), from the root ܫ-ܪ-ܪ (š-r-r) related to firmness + the abstract noun ending -ܘܬܐ (-ūṯāʾ). Compare Hebrew שְׁרִירוּת (šərîrûṯ).
