[edit]From Aramaic שְׁבַעֵסְרֶא (šəḇaʿesrē). Equivalent to ܫܒ݂ܲܥ (šḇaʿ, “seven”) + ܥܸܣܲܪ (ʿisar, “ten”); compare Arabic سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ (sabʕa ʕašrata) and Hebrew שְׁבַע עֶשְׂרֵה (sh'vá 'esré).
