From Arabic رُومَانِيَا (rūmāniyā), from Latin Romania. With an extra “ܗ݇” added to mirror the spelling of ܪܗ݇ܘܿܡܹܐ (rōmē, Rome) due to it being ambiguous with ܪܵܘܡܵܢܵܝܵܐ (rāwmānāyā, altitudinal) in unvocalised writing.
